Bernat's birthday in Brighton!

It was Bernat's birthday on Sunday and we decided to catch the train to Brighton. It was the warmest day of the year (26ºC!) and we were going to spend it on the beach. It sounded great! You should have seen the general face of disappointment when we all got to Brighton in summer clothes and all we could see were grey clouds, mist and 16ºC.
Any way, we tried to be positive and went to have a walk through the town, because last time we didn't see the city centre. Also the Sunday market was on! I would really like to live there, it's  a beautiful and lively place with lots of things to do!

El domingo fue el cumple de Bernat así que decidimos coger un tren hasta Brighton. Era el día más caluroso del año (26ºC) e íbamos a pasarlo al lado de la playa. Genial, ¿no? La cara que se nos quedó a todos los que estábamos en el tren, con ropa de verano, al llegar a Brighton fue épica al ver que había nubes grises, niebla, y unos ventosos 16ºC. 

Intentamos ser positivos y decidimos pasear por la ciudad, ya que la última vez que fuimos no estuvimos por el centro y además, el domingo había mercadillo. Ojalá pudiera vivir allí, es un lugar precioso, muy animado y con muchas cosas que ver.

Me encanta que por todo hayan puesto banderitas de colores, todo está decorado de forma divertida.

Brighton has lots of really nice teashops with incredible cakes in the window displays. I had to stop to have a look at all of them! There were also lots of cake decorating courses. Now that I think about it, if I lived there I'm sure I would put on a bit of weight... 

En Brighton hay un montón de teashops super bonitas y con pasteles increíbles en los escaparates. ¡Me tenía que parar a mirarlos todo el rato! También había muchos cursillos de repostería y de decoración de pasteles. Pensándolo bien, si viviera allí creo que pesaría unos kilos más...

Brighton is a coastal town and that's why half of the population is formed by seagulls. It looks like humans and seagulls live together peacefully!
We found it very funny when we saw this man having lunch and a seagull observing him waiting for him to look away so it could pinch some food.

Como Brighton es un pueblo costero, la población principal son las personas y las gaviotas. Por lo visto conviven pacíficamente, o al menos nosotros no vimos nada extraño. 
Nos hizo mucha gracia ver a este señor comiendo en una terraza y a la gaviota observándole, diciendo "dame un poco, ¿no?".

Afterwards we were walking near a park and suddenly we heard a small orchestra playing the Happy Birthday song, so we ran into the park while everyone applauded. I tried to convince Bernat that I had organised everything but he didn't believe me ;)

Luego pasamos por al lado de un parque y oímos a una pequeña orquesta tocando Cumpleaños Feliz, así que entramos corriendo al parque mientras el público aplaudía. Intenté convencer a Bernat de que yo lo había organizado todo para su cumple, pero no me creyó ;)

After that we went to the beach. Even though the weather wasn't good there were people enjoying a walk on the shore and others doing barbecues. 

By the way, those deck chairs are great!

Más tarde fuimos a la playa. Aunque no hiciera buen tiempo la gente intentaba aprovecharla al máximo paseando y haciendo barbacoas.

Por cierto, ¡cómo me gustan las hamacas que tienen en esa playa!

And this is Bernat with a tired face going back home on the train. When we got to Hemel Hempstead we spent some time with my family, ate birthday cake and tried to enjoy the sun a bit.  

Y cara de cansado en el tren volviendo a casa. Al llegar vimos un rato a la familia, intentamos aprovechar un poquito el sol que había en Hemel y comimos tarta de cumpleaños.
