1 year in England

Hi!

Today it's ONE YEAR since I came to live in England. Wow. Time goes by SO fast. It's scary.
One year ago right now I was on the plane with Bernat wondering what would happen in my life. It's an adventure to leave your home and go and live in another country without knowing if you will get a job, where you will live, if you will be able to live with your boyfriend or if you two will end up wanting to kill each other... Haha!
Let's see what's happened in one year...

1. We have learnt was real COLD is. Yeah, in Mallorca we say it's cold in winter... It's not that cold, come here and see what it's like to go out on the street and fall on the slippery road because it has snowed for 10 days. A minute later your feet are completely frozen and they hurt so much you can't walk. Moral of the story: go and buy some winter boots if you want to live. Quick.

¡Hola!

Hoy hace UN AÑO que vine a vivir a Inglaterra. Wow.

CORRE.

2. Because of the cold, Bernat and I spent a lot of time at home the first months. Blankets, warm tea, TV... And writing job applications like mad. I have to say we had a really big house for us, my aunt and my uncle let us live there for free! They have been so good to us.

3. My parents and my sister came to visit us in December. It was good to be with them and part of my English family at Christmas!

4. I got a job in a coffee shop called Muffin Break. I have to say I was not really enthusiastic about it at first, but then I discovered it was a good place to work in, the people were really nice and the food and hot chocolates were amazing! I miss them so much now. And I miss having muffins for breakfast.
Bernat also found a job as a web developer at Clearhead, a company in Luton. He's learnt so much working there!

5. I did a few freelance videos for a nice German family that was living in London. They have 3 kids which are really good in front of the camera, so we all enjoyed doing videos!

6. I've been to Mallorca twice, once in May and once in August. It was so good to see my family and friends again! And there is nothing like summer in Mallorca...

7. I finished my video A second every day - 1 year of my life. Half of it is filmed in Mallorca and the other half in England. I'm so glad I did this project, now I have so many memories!

8. I got my second job in May in a company called JellyJames. I've been working there as a translator and doing customer care, especially working on Dynamo Maths, which is a programme designed for children with dyscalculia (like dyslexia but with numbers). I've learnt a lot of different things in this job and it has also given me more confidence. Also the people I was working with were very kind.

9. I moved from Hemel Hempstead to St Albans in a shared flat with a Polish couple. St Albans is a lovely town and I like living with other people. Our flatmates are members of Couchsurfing so we've had people staying in our flat a few times, which has been quite interesting! We've met people from Poland, China, Argentina, Germany... They've all been very friendly!

10. Summer here was not that bad, we were at 30 - 35ºC for a few weeks! I didn't expect it to get so hot, so the only thing I was jealous about Mallorca was that I didn't have the sea or a swimming pool to cool down!

11. Bernat and I have been to Brighton and Oxford. There are lots of beautiful places I would love to visit in this country... The bad thing is that it has to be at the weekends because we work, and the trains are really expensive! I wish we had a car, it would be so much easier to travel.

11. Bernat y yo hemos ido a Brighton y a Oxford.

12. Last Thursday Bernat and I went to a Lumineers concert! I will put some photos on my blog soon :)

13. I finished my job at JellyJames on Friday and today I went to an interview for an internship here in St Albans, just next to my house. They have told me that they want me do start on Wednesday! It will be a trial to see if I like the job and I am good at it, and then we will see what happens. But I'm really excited because it involves photography!!!

Lots of other things have happened and we have met very nice people too. These are just a few things, I don't want to bore you any more ;) By the way, do you like my new blog design? Bernat did a few changes! :)
