Photo Brunch with Helena la Petite

A few weeks ago I won a giveaway on Helena la Petite's blog. It was a free space at the Photo Brunch she organises! So on Saturday I met up with Helena, Emma, Karen and Karen at Notes, in Covent Garden, and we got to know each other while we had brunch.
Then Helena gave us some cards (and sweets!) explaining ISO, aperture and shutter speed so we could understand how our cameras work. After that we went out in to the cold and started taking photos!
I have to say that I already know the basics of photography, but I never use my camera in Manual mode because it's slower to take a photo. It's easier for me to have it on Av and only control the aperture, so the rest is automatic. This time I decided to only use Manual and take my time to get the correct exposure. So here are some of my photos:

Neal's Yard is so colourful! It's a nice place to take photos.

It's a shame the weather was so strange - One moment it was sunny, then it was windy, then raining... In the end we went to another cafe to have something warm to drink and had a nice long chat. It was really nice to spend time with these girls, we talked about everything and they were all really nice.

In my opinion the photo brunch is a great idea. It's an excuse to meet nice people who are interested in photography, with who you can talk about anything and walk around pretty places while you take photos. Could there be anything better? :)

If you have a camera and need help to learn how to use it or if you want to meet people who are interested in photography, take photos and exchange tips, book a space for a Photo Brunch with Helena!

By the way, your photos are great! I love the reflection of the bike wheel in the first one. X

  2. Wow, you've got lovely photos from the day!

It's been so interesting to see how others captured it despite us all being in the same place at the same time, we all have such varying photos :)
